Help Us Protect San Antonio Culture & Heritage by tell City Council to choose the 100% Local BV Barges for our River Walk!View Our Online Petition
Its unique cultural identity has always been the foundation of what makes us thrive. The three owners of Buena Vista Barges (BVB) and its team of local professionals have the expertise of San Antonio’s unique culture that a non-local team can never acquire. That experience of “local” is critical to not only successfully operate tours of our River Walk that speaks of the history of San Antonio in an authentic manner, but to also implement a plan for the River Barge operations that will respect and help the local businesses along the River Walk and throughout our City grow, thrive, and succeed.
In addition, the overall experience and qualifications of the BVB owners and team members in regard to maritime experience on the San Antonio River Walk, transportation and tours for San Antonio locals and visitors, customized technology made in San Antonio, established local philanthropic partnerships, and innovation far exceed any other team, local or non-local. They also have the financial capability and personal commitment to our city that is required to successfully implement an innovative plan for our River Barge operations.
Finally, the young professionals in the family businesses that comprise the BVB team have a lifelong commitment to San Antonio and the River Barge operations, which is based on a foundation of dedication to their hometown and civic duty. This is what distinguishes the BVB team from all others…The River Barge operations is not just a business opportunity. BVB can guarantee a strong partnership with the City that will far exceed the initial 10-year contract term with its team of young professionals. City Council has always promoted the importance of having a long-term plan to address and plan for anticipated growth of San Antonio. The BVB team ensures a personal lifetime commitment to the River Barge operations, which is crucial to implementing a stable long-term plan that is in the best interest of San Antonio and our local business owners.
We urge City Council to consider awarding the Contract to BVB, a local company who does not have a conflict of interest on the River Walk, understands our special confluence, are proven advocates for our local businesses and city, and whose maritime and transportation/tour experience qualifies them to provide the “Cultural Tourism” that our River Barge operations has to offer in an authentic manner. One whose ideas can be grand and global but whose culture is deep in the heart of San Antonio.
